Our Aim is: To relieve and prevent financial hardship amongst persons involved in or connected with the sport of oval circuit racing who are in need by reason of incapacity, by providing grants and any other charitable support to such individuals.
FORDS Care helps drivers of all formulae*, track staff and media people and their families at all member tracks if they are injured in a racing incident, unable to work as a result of those injuries and have a reduced income as a result.
We offer financial support according to individual circumstances, so that we can give more where it’s needed most. There is no membership, application or fee; it’s for everyone holding a full or day licence at our member tracks as well as any Promoters’ insurance. As the Fund grows, we’ll be able to offer even more.
We aim to deliver real help with genuine care and common sense. We can’t mend your broken bones but we can help ease your financial worries, leaving you free to focus on mending properly. And because we’d prefer it if you didn’t get hurt, we support safety improvements to protect you.
FORDS Care is funded by events and collections, donations and sponsorships. We work in partnership with racing Promoters, suppliers and others to make fundraising fun. From a racing taster in a sponsored race, to presenting winners’ trophies, through selling off memorabilia, we like to offer something in return for those vital pounds.
Gifts are essential too - we hold collections and accept donations by cheque, direct to the bank, via PayPal or MyDonate (just click the MyDonate button at the bottom of the page and remember to Gift Aid it). Regular gifts are very welcome too; please contact us for a standing order form.
We pride ourselves on making sure 100% of money raised goes directly to help those in need of our support. Costs are paid separately from funds raised for that purpose.
FORDS Care publish a quarterly-ish newsletter, free by e-mail or for a small donation of £5 per year to cover costs if required on paper. This has a little more detail on news and finances, and sometimes a personal story of one of the people we’ve helped. Contact us to sign up (or to unsubscribe at any time).
* Restrictions apply to drivers of formulae covered by other Benevolent Funds and junior drivers under working age.
