Taro Rigby Marathon Woman 13 March 2016

Taro with big medal and smile
Fitness enthusiast Taro loves a challenge. Usually a short distance runner, she wanted to push herself - and a good excuse to do it - so last year she offered to run the Colchester half marathon in aid of FORDS.

She completed that challenge this morning in two hours 22 minutes - well done Taro!

Thank you for your great support. Taro has raised over £400 and we'll bring you a final figure when she has it.

Tony Jeanes 20 February 2016
We're quite overwhelmed with the kindness of Tony Jeanes' family and the generosity of all his friends.

Tony, retired driver and Autospeed staff, sadly passed away last December. His last time on track was in support of FORDS in our Banger Mechanics' race, a day he really enjoyed, finishing second. We were touched that at such a sad time for the family they requested donations to us in Tony's memory. But we were truly overwhelmed to receive a cheque last week in the sum of £485.

Our most sincere thanks to every one of you generous people for your support. Our condolences to Tony's family and friends and all who feel his loss, our thoughts are with you.

Wimbledon Pit Passes 01 February 2016
Thank you for purchasing a pit pass in aid of injured drivers yesterday, raising a total of £1350 to help us to continue helping them manage through their recovery time.

Marie's 2 Litre Ladies at Lynn 29 December 2015

Winning Ladies, picture Kevin Wickham
Mrs 730 Marie Mayes organised a Ladies' race in 2-litre saloons in just 5 weeks - and while everyone was busy getting ready for Christmas! The awful weather that had held the country for a week cleared for the day, giving us thankfully clear skies. The track was just wet enough to help turn even gentle contact into a spin, though only two didn't finish.

Georgie Harris came through for the win, Jodie Grief second and late entry Hannah Thompson finished third - our congratulations to you. Well done also in no particular order to mother and daughter duo Heather and Lisa Petters, Kirstie Rix, Anna Piggott, Caroline Garner, Elaine Turner, Sherrie Martin, Vanessa Santry, Carly Barnett, Jess Fisher, Lauren Overy, Natasha Street, Gemma Russell and of course race organiser herself Marie Mayes, first to drive husband Deane's new car. Thank you all and your generous sponsors.

We’d also like to thank race sponsors Pete Carter of The Plumbers, T&M Gardening Services, Deane Mayes Scrap Collection (and Saloon car hire) and Trackstar who very kindly – and to our surprise – gave a memento of the day to each Lady taking part. Our thanks also to Kevin Wickham for generously donating proceeds from his photos of the Ladies to FORDS as well.

We’d especially like to thank Amanda Game and Breeze Atkin for their help taking a bucket around the stadium and all you lovely spectators who put some change (and a couple of notes) in it.

Including all of this the total on the day came to an astounding £2020.26, a very successful fundraiser and all down to Marie from idea all the way to coming together on the day. Well done and thank you, on behalf of the injured drivers, staff and photographers we support.

Lindsay's Lochgelly Ladies 09 November 2015

Halloween at Kings Lynn 20 October 2015

Banger boy Darrell Page will be having a go in the 2 litre Saloon of Deane Mayes, fulfilling a personal ambition and raising funds for us in the process. It will also be his first time racing on shale, so he has a lot to contend with!

His partner the lovely Liv will be joining us for a bucket collection and to add to the fun she is offering to wear a Halloween costume randomly selected from public suggestions. To add your suggestion, she's asking for a minimum £2 donation!

Donations very welcome for this event until 30th November at our MyDonate, Heavy Metal Page - you can also put a suggestion (sensible please) with your gift.
